The Occupational Health Physician (MD or DO) reports to the Medical Director Occupational Health Services. He /she will work as a staff physician at any of the Greenwich Hospital satellite Occupational Health or Corporate offices. Fully trained and experienced in caring for injured workers, managing their rehabilitation Workers Compensation, return to work, fitness for duty exams, Executive Health, pre-employment exams, and specialized exams geared to a specific work position, and testing such as DOT. Knowledge in ADA regulations, OSHA, CDC, JCAHO requirements/regulations pertaining to healthcare workers, knowledge of interactions with safety, industrial hygiene, infection control, and toxicology, and State, Local and Federal regulations regarding worker health and safety. Strong understanding of ergonomics and industrial rehab. MRO training and travel medicine. Sincere interest in the care of the Occupational Health patient and the needs and restraints of the Occupational Health client employer. This physician will understand the nuances of workers' compensation injury management and be knowledgeable in OSHA surveillance requirements. In addition this physician will have experience and appropriate training to work in a busy center that manages the injuries and employee health issues of a large number of employees and can handle seeing up to 25-30 patients per day, if needed. This physician will work with a team of occupational health and urgent care professionals and will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Provides patient care services.
    • 1.1 Assesses of injuries or illnesses
  • 2. Supports the leadership team at the assigned work place. Works with the site lead nurse to attain the most efficient and highest quality Occupational Health office.
    • 2.1 Works with the lead nurse to attain efficient overall patient flow
  • 3. Supervision of Physician Assistants and or APRNs, resident physicians, medical students and other paraprofessional health care students, if onsite, as directed by the Medical Director
    • 3.1 While on duty supervises PAs and APRNs under his or her charge.
  • 4. Participates in educational activities Maintains MRO certification and FMCSA certification per departmental needs.
    • 4.1 Supports the designated department MRO as needed. May be asked to support the drug testing coordinator with regard to policies, procedures, and drug test interpretation in the department's MRO absence.
  • 5. In addition to clinical shifts, the Occ. Health physician will participate in other departmental activities as required by the Medical Director, Occupational Health Services. Examples of these activities are:
    • 5.1 Designated committee meetings (intra/extramural)

Qualifications

EDUCATION


The Per diem Occ Health physician will be Board Certified in one of the following: internal
medicine, emergency medicine, family practice or occupational medicine and will have experience in Occupational medicine and appropriate training to satisfy requirements to work in an urgent care facility. Certificate of Travel Medicine from ISTM.


EXPERIENCE


At least 3 years experience in the practice of occupational medicine and 3 years in urgent care or emergency medicine is desired with the emphasis on actual hands on patient care. Experience in team leadership and supervising PAs and APRNs would be a plus.


LICENSURE


The Per Diem physician Occ Health will hold a valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of CT, This physician must maintain his or her appropriate Board Certification. He/she will maintain a Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substances Registration Certificate and State of CT Controlled Substance Registration for Practitioners. He/she will also maintain membership in the Medical Staff of Greenwich Hospital in the appropriate section.. Further certifications unique to Occupational Medicine may be required per the Medical Director Occupational Health Service? such as MRO or FMCSA certifications.


SPECIAL SKILLS


The Occ Health per diem physician will possess clinical skills commensurate with this position. This physician may be asked to support marketing efforts for the department and to visit client companies as needed. The Occupational Health physician may also be required to practice Occupational Med and or urgent care at a company 's work site.In addition to the special skills needed for practice of Occ health, this physician should be versed in "walk in" or urgent care medicine.


PHYSICAL DEMAND


The Occupational Health physician will work at several Greenwich Hospital Occupational Medicine sites as needed. In addition, travel to visit companies may be needed. The Occupational Health physician maybe required to be available for after hours consultation to our client companies and perform other duties as determined by the Med Director Occupational Health Services. He or she will be expected to share call with the other department physicians. He or she must be willing to accept calls during the day from client companies. Supports hospital and corporate clients for FMLA and ADA clinical issues as well as other specialty evaluations
