Abstracts, collects and analyzes data on healthcare events to reduce the incidence of such events and to protect patients, staff and visitors from organism/infections transmission or other quality and safety concerns. Informs clinical personnel of pertinent data on adverse healthcare associated events and quality of care outcomes. Collaborates with Infection Prevention staff.
Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse Program or equivalent (Associate's Degree in Allied Health programs or Bachelor's Degree in clinically related field).
Two (2) to three (3) years experience with emphasis in acute care, microbiology or clinical record abstraction preferred. Use of technology, including Microsoft Office desirable.
Active nursing license for the State of Connecticut, if applicable.
Special interest in epidemiology and infection prevention; excellent communication skills; highly motivated, tactful in dealing with others; ability to handle stressful situations; willingness to learn and apply knowledge appropriately.
Prolonged sitting and computer work. Walking and shuttling through-out the YNHH medical center campuses. Ability to travel to other delivery network hospitals when needed.
